Change of internal fan for PS4
You may need to exchange the internal fan on your PlayStation 4 if you observe any of the following signs:
- Overheating and Shutdowns: The console displays a “PS4 is too hot” error message and shuts down shortly after, often because the fan is not spinning or not cooling properly.
- Fan Noise Issues: The fan runs loudly, sounds like a “jet engine,” or produces grinding, rubbing, or rattling noises, which indicates worn bearings or mechanical failure.
- Fan Spins Intermittently or Stops: The fan may start spinning briefly then stop repeatedly, or spin irregularly, which is often caused by a faulty fan motor or bad bearings.
- No Airflow or Fan Silence: You cannot hear or feel any airflow from the fan when the console is on and under load, suggesting the fan is not working at all.
- Physical Resistance: If you remove the fan and try to spin it manually and it does not spin freely or feels rough, this indicates bearing wear or damage.
- Dust and Dirt Accumulation: Excessive dust buildup can cause the fan to work harder, become noisy, or fail, though cleaning may temporarily help.
